Writing an effective and descriptive project statement is essential to framing the path to a successful project and describing the concept to others. In this article, I will direct the scope of my capstone project through an intent statement, description, keywords, prospective questions, primary target audiences, purpose, and potential output products.

Intent

Provide resources and learning experiences for backpackers with inconsistent internet connections.

Description

A mobile application to serve the user as a collection of guides and experiences as other travelers share information through community forums. The application will entice audiences that travel leisurely over the course of a month with only a backpack of belongings. This resource will be utilized in the planning and duration of a trip for adventurous explorers to stay vigilant and prepared. The resources provided within this application will answer traveler’s questions without wasting time searching the internet for recommendations or solutions to common problems.

How can I convince users they need this resource?

How much content is downloadable?

How can I make it easy for users to navigate?

Could this be a survival guide?

What will it contain?

Will the user need an account?

Will the app cost any money?

Can it track the user’s location?

What will the design look like?

Why does this matter to me?

My life goal is to become fluent in another language, live in another country, and experience different cultures.

Schedules, preparation, and back-up plans are extremely important to my comfort and function.

I want to narrow down the information I have researched into download-able files for quick access.

I want to create something that can debunk the most common travel myths.

What is the Output?

Research, Wireframe & Prototype, Design System, Motion Showcase, Band/Identity
